Beleaf Kids tees! A great idea for KIDS to keep Earth Day in mind all year long.

These t-shirts from Beleaf are good-looking little reminders of things kids (and grownups) can do everyday. Like “I recycled a cardboard box and built a fort today” and “I walked to school to save gas today.” Sure to be the favorite: “I didn’t take a bath to save water today.”

Stop Work-For-Hire

Designers Come Together!

What it means, why it’s hurting the creative industry, and why you should never accept a job that requires you to sign a document with a work-for-hire clause. It effects the entire creative industry and devalues the work that we provide.

Stop work-for-hire and take the pledge today!

Businesswoman Named to “Forty Under 40″ List

MANASQUAN — Debra Zapotocky Rizzi, 36, Partner and Co-founder of Rizco Design, a green graphic design firm in Manasquan, was recently named a 2008 New Jersey Forty Under 40 recipient. Of the 40 recipients, Rizzi is one of the 10 women selected to the 2008 Forty Under 40 class.

The Forty Under 40 awards program honors men and women who have been making headlines in their field and who share a commitment to business growth, professional excellence and the community. NJBIZ and the program sponsors honored this year’s 40 winners during an awards ceremony on Monday, September 22, 2008 at the Palace at Somerset Park in Somerset, New Jersey. Winners will be highlighted in a special supplement to NJBIZ on September 29, 2008, in which Rizzi is featured on the cover.

Rizzi is a founding partner of Rizco Design. She and her husband, Keith, started the boutique firm in New York City in 2000. In 2004, Rizco relocated from New York City to the Jersey Shore, and with the help of her vision and direction, Rizco Design has grown into an award-winning firm, and not to mention green.

In May 2007, Debra led the design firm in the launch of Beleaf, a measurable sustainability program that ensures that a percentage of each client’s jobs are environmentally friendly.

Beleaf is Rizco Design’s success story, and as part of her continued dedication to one small change that can make a difference, Rizzi has delivered pro-bono presentations to organizations such as, the New York Celebrity Assistants Association, Graphic Arts Association Green Printing Conference in Philadelphia, Tread Lightly a Mohawk and AIGA co-sponsored event in Rochester, NY, among others. She has authored articles and been cited in featured stories on the topic of green design in key design publications.

In between being a mom and businesswoman, Debra serves on the board and is an active member of organizations such as the Jersey Shore Public Relations and Advertising Association, Art Directors Club of New Jersey and AIGA. Debra is involved in green associations, which include AIGA’s Design Center for Sustainability, EPA Green Power Partnership, EPA Climate Leaders, 1% for the Planet, Design Can Change and Designer’s Accord.

Rizzi is a graduate of Bucknell University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a second major in Art History. Originally hailing from Rahway, Rizzi now lives in Wall with her husband and two daughters.
